Description
This factory-documented antique Colt Single Action Army revolver is a highly desirable black powder model, manufactured in 1881 and originally shipped to Simmons Hardware Co. in St. Louis, Missouri. Finished in factory nickel and chambered in .45 Colt, this example reflects Colt's early frontier-era production, with matching serial numbers on the frame, trigger guard, and back strap.
The 7.5" barrel bears the one-line Hartford address, with the classic three-line patent marking on the frame and "45 CAL." on the trigger guard. While the revolver retains approximately 30% of its original nickel finish, the remainder shows smooth gray patina consistent with honest age and use. The period replacement antique ivory grips show minor age cracks but remain tight and visually fitting. Mechanically sound and accompanied by a factory letter confirming its original configuration and 1881 shipment, this is a fine example of an authentic, documented Old West Colt.
